Calm design begins with subtraction. Every element on a page competes for attention, and the most premium experiences are those that have removed everything unnecessary. Start by auditing the content hierarchy: what does a user need to see in the first second? In the first ten? Anything beyond that should fade into the background or disappear entirely.
Typography does the heaviest lifting. A well-set headline in a strong family establishes confidence before a single product image loads. Pair it with generous whitespace and you've already done 80% of the work.
Finally, motion should serve clarity, never spectacle. A subtle 200ms ease on a hover is enough to feel responsive without becoming theatrical.
